How to offer add-ons and ask for a deposit
Add-ons are extras the customer ticks on the quote's page; a deposit is a share of the total, recorded when it is paid.
Updated 2026-10-24
Add-ons let the customer choose extras themselves, e.g. an expansion tank with a water heater. A deposit asks for part of the total once the quote is accepted, e.g. 25%.
Where
Quotes → open a quote that is not accepted yet: Add-ons sits under the lines, and Deposit on acceptance beside Expires.
Steps
- Press Add an add-on, then type it or pick it from your price list, e.g. "Haul away old tank", 50.00.
- To ask for a deposit, type the percent in Deposit on acceptance, e.g. 25.
- Press Save, then Send.
What happens next
- The customer's page lists the add-ons under the quote, each with a tick box, and says they are not in the total yet. Each one they tick is added to the total when they press Accept; the others come off the quote.
- If the customer tells you instead, tick Add-ons the customer chose before you press Mark accepted.
- With a deposit, the customer's page says how much is due once they accept. Accepting makes a draft deposit invoice for that share, under Bill in stages on the quote. Send it, or record the payment on it when you are paid.
Good to know
- Nothing is charged: card payments are not switched on. The deposit is recorded, like any payment you record on an invoice.
- Add-ons sit beside the quote's options, not inside one: the customer picks an option and ticks any add-ons with it.
- A quote offers up to 10 add-ons.
- The deposit invoice needs Invoices on. Without it the quote does not mention a deposit.
If it doesn't work
- "Add-ons the customer ticks go on a quote's own lines, not here." Add-ons are for quotes; an invoice or a job bills what was chosen.
