How to knock doors and pin what happened
Pin each door on a map as you go, come back to the ones worth it, split the area into territories and see what the door-to-door work brought in.

Canvassing is for door-to-door selling. At each door you drop a pin on the map and say what happened, so the next visit starts from what you already know. It is under Growth → Canvassing. (If it is not in the menu, switch it on under Settings → What you use. See how to switch parts of Otto on and off.)
The page has four tabs: Map, Revisits, Report and, for someone who manages the business, Setup.
Pin a door
- Open Canvassing on your phone and stand at the door.
- Press Pin here. Otto finds where you are and opens What happened? You can also tap the map where the door is (on a phone, a long press works too).
- Check the Address. If address lookup is set up, Otto fills it in for you; otherwise type it, for example "12 Oak Street".
- Add a Note if there is something worth remembering, such as "Ask for Sam after 5pm".
- Press what happened: Sale, Not home, Not interested, Not qualified, Do not contact, Revisit, Referral, Quote or Yard sign.
The pin is saved straight away and opens so you can add more. Each outcome has its own color on the map, and the key under the map says which is which.

Open a pin
Press a pin on the map to open it. You will see:
- the note, which you can change and save with Save note
- photos and files you add to the pin
- At this door: every visit to that address, who made it and when
A Sale pin has Make customer and job: fill in their Name, Phone, Email and Address, and optionally a Day and Time, then press Save. A Quote pin has Quick quote, which adds the customer and a draft quote (What and Price are optional). Once it is done the pin says Job booked or Draft quote written.
Pinning a door Do not contact marks the address gray for everyone. Nobody can pin it again or make it a customer until a manager opens it and presses Clear.
Use the map
- Show: All, Revisits or Sales, to see only the pins you need.
- Customers: shows your existing customers as white dots, so you know which streets you already work on.
- Draw territory (managers): tap each corner of the area on the map, press Undo to take back a corner, then Finish. Name it after the place, for example "Maple Heights", choose the Rep (or leave it Unassigned) and press Save. A rep's own territory is shaded darker for them.
- Redraw: under the map lists your territories; press one to draw its corners again.
Go back to the doors worth it
The Revisits tab, Go back to, lists every door whose last pin was Revisit or Quote, newest first. Choose Both, Revisit or Quote to narrow it, and press a door to open its pin.
Press Open route to open the doors as a route in your maps app. A long list is split: the note above the list says how many stops the route takes and how many are left after that.
See the report
The Report tab shows what the door-to-door work brought in over 1W, 1M, 3M, 1Y or Custom dates. Managers can pick one rep or Every rep, and any territory or Everywhere.
- Pins and how many doors they were on
- Sales per door pinned: the share of pinned doors that became a sale
- Revisit backlog: doors still to go back to
- Not qualified: the share of pins that were not a fit
- Outcomes: how many pins had each outcome
- All pins: every pin with its rep, territory and time. Press one to open it.
Press Download CSV for every pin in the period as a spreadsheet.

Set up outcomes and territories
In Setup (managers only):
- Outcomes: move one up or down with the arrows to change the order of the buttons at the door, or switch one off. An outcome that is off is hidden in the field, and its history is kept. To add your own, type a name such as "Gate locked", pick a color and press Add. The built-in outcomes keep their names.
- Territories: see how many doors are pinned in each, change its rep, or Remove it.
Good to know
- Someone whose position sees only their own work sees only their own pins, plus the doors marked do not contact.
- The map shows the most recent 3,000 doors.
- A business can have up to 40 outcomes and 200 territories.
If it doesn't work
- "Location is blocked for this site. Allow it in your browser's settings, or tap the map where you are."
- "Your phone could not find where you are just now. Try again outside, or tap the map where you are."
- "This address asked not to be contacted. Leave it; a manager can clear that if it changes."
- "That pin is not yours." — your position sees only its own pins.
- "Your position cannot write quotes. Pin it as a Quote and somebody who can will write it."
- "Who did you speak to? Add their name." — Make customer and job and Quick quote need a name.
- "A territory needs at least 3 corners" — tap at least three corners before Finish.
