How to post to social media and see your ad results

Write posts, approve them before they go out, and read what your ads spent and brought in.

Social & ads is a posting queue you approve, and a read-only view of your ad accounts. It is under Growth → Social & ads, with two tabs: Posts and Ads. Your accounts are connected under Settings → Integrations.

Write and schedule a post

  1. Open Social & ads and press New post.
  2. Choose Where it goes. Where Otto can post shows the accounts you have connected, such as your Facebook Page, Instagram or YouTube.
  3. Write the Post, or press Draft with Otto, say what it is about, and pick the Tone (for example Friendly, Professional, Playful or Urgent) and Length. Example: "We have Saturday appointments free this week".
  4. Choose When: When approved, Tomorrow 9:00, or Pick… a date and time.
  5. Press Send for approval, or Save draft to finish it later.

You will see "Sent to Reviews — it publishes once it is approved". Nothing posts until it is approved in Reviews.

The queue shows each post as Draft, In Reviews, Scheduled, Publishing, Published or Not published. Switch between Calendar and List, and between Week and Month.

Video platforms that use drafts

Some video platforms only accept an app's uploads once they have approved it. Until then, a video sent to one of them arrives as a draft in your own account on that platform: open the platform's app, add the caption and press post there yourself. YouTube uploads stay private until YouTube has approved this server's app. The page says which applies under Where Otto can post.

See your ad results

Open the Ads tab and pick the period: 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. For each connected ad account you see Spend, Impressions and Clicks per campaign, with Google Ads among the services Otto reads.

The Ads tab is read only: Otto cannot create, change, pause or pay for a campaign. With nothing connected it says "No ad service connected".

If it doesn't work

  • "Write the post first" / "Say what it is about first"
  • "Choose one of your Pages." / "Choose from the platforms shown."
  • "Schedule a post within the next year."
  • "This post has been sent for approval. Decline its review to change it."
  • "That is not a video Otto can use. Upload an MP4 or MOV file."
  • "Not switched on for this server yet." — that platform cannot be used from this Otto server.
