How to keep pesticide and fertilizer treatment records
Settings → Tools → Treatment records. Keep a product list, record each application on the job, and download a report of every application by date, product or applicator.

For pest control and lawn treatment: record what was applied on each job, e.g. 12.5 fl oz of Talstar P at 1 fl oz per gallon, for ants, around the perimeter, by spray, at 64 F with a 5 mph NW wind. Only an owner or admin can set it up. It is part of Jobs, so Jobs must be switched on.
Otto keeps the records that state pesticide regulators usually ask for. It does not file anything for you, and rules differ by state, so check your state's rules for what you must record and for how long you must keep it.
Where
Your name at the bottom of the menu → Settings → Tools → Treatment records → Open.
Steps
- Switch on Keep treatment records.
- Under Products, add each product as its label names it: the name, the EPA Reg. No., the active ingredient and the unit you measure it in, e.g. fl oz, gal or lb. Press Add.
- Under Applicator licenses, type each person's license number and press Save.
- Leave on A job marked as a treatment can't be marked done until what was applied is recorded, or switch it off if you do not want the check.
On a job
- Open the job. Under Treatment record, switch on This job is a treatment.
- Press Record an application. Pick the product, then type the amount applied, the mix rate, the target pest, the site or area, the method, the day and time, and the weather: temperature, wind speed and wind direction. Pick who applied it.
- Press Save application. Record each product separately.
While a treatment job has nothing recorded, Mark done is grayed out, with "Add what was applied under Treatment record first." beside it.
The report
Under Report, pick the dates (From and To), and a Product or an Applicator if you want only one. Every application is listed with the customer and address. Press Download CSV for a spreadsheet with every field, ready to keep or to hand to an inspector.
Good to know
- The product's name, EPA number and ingredient, and the applicator's license number, are copied onto each application when it is recorded. Renewing a license or editing a product later does not change old records.
- A product taken off the list is kept on the records that name it.
- Once a job is done, its applications can't be removed. Reopen the job to change them.
- If the customer is asked to sign off the job, what they are shown includes the treatment record.
- Bait stations, traps and monitors are checked under Devices in the same section. See how to keep a log of bait stations, traps and monitors.
If it doesn't work
- "This job is marked as a treatment, so add what was applied before marking it done." Record the application, or switch off This job is a treatment if it was not one.
- "Add the target pest.", "Add the site or area." or "Add the method." Every application needs these.
- "The amount applied is a number above 0, e.g. 12.5." Type only the number; the unit comes from the product.
- "Pick the product from your product list." Add the product under Products first.
- Treatment records is not in Tools: you are not an owner or admin, or Jobs is off.
