How to track grants

Keep each grant you apply for with its funder, the amount asked and awarded, the proposal deadline and the report due, and see what is coming up.

Updated 2026-10-24

The Grants tab in Giving keeps the grants you apply for, from first research to the final report. Only positions that see money see it.

Add a grant

  1. Open Giving, then Grants, and press Add a grant.
  2. Type the funder, such as a foundation, trust or agency, and what the grant is for.
  3. Pick the stage: Researching, Writing, Submitted, Awarded, Declined or Closed.
  4. Type the amount asked, and the amount awarded once you know it.
  5. Add the Proposal deadline and, once awarded, when the Report due is.
  6. Press Save.

Press Edit on a grant to move it to its next stage or change its dates. Deleting a grant asks you to confirm first, and only someone who manages can delete one.

What is coming up

A grant still being researched or written whose deadline is within 14 days, or has passed, shows Deadline soon. An awarded grant whose report is due within 14 days, or is late, shows Report due. Both are listed in Opportunities too. Moving a grant to Submitted clears its deadline; moving it to Closed clears its report.

The top of the tab shows what is asked and still waiting, and what has been awarded.

An award is not counted as a gift. When the money arrives, record it under Gifts with the funder as the donor, so it shows in your totals and can be receipted if the funder wants one.
