Donors, households and suggested asks

Each donor's status, engagement score and totals, LYBUNT and SYBUNT, households and relationships, suggested asks, email groups by giving and the donor's own page.

Updated 2026-10-24

Donor status

The Donors tab lists everyone who has given, with their lifetime total. Each has a status worked out from their gifts:

  • New: one gift in the last 13 months and none before.
  • Active: gave in the last 13 months.
  • Lapsed: gave before, but nothing in the last 13 months.
  • Recovered: came back after a gap of more than 13 months.

LYBUNT lists donors who gave last year but not yet this year, and SYBUNT those who gave in some earlier year but neither last year nor this year. Managers can download either list as a spreadsheet with Export CSV.

Suggested ask

Each donor with money gifts has three suggested amounts to ask for next, on the Donors tab and on their card in Contacts:

  • their last gift,
  • a quarter more than their last gift,
  • half again their largest gift.

Each is rounded up to a round number: to the nearest 5 under 100, 25 under 1,000 and 100 above. Gifts in kind are not counted. It is arithmetic on their own giving, not a guess about their wealth.

Households and relationships

On a supporter's card in Contacts, the Giving section has Household and relationships. Press Link someone, choose the person and how they are linked: same household, spouse or partner, parent, child, employer, employee or other. Press Link.

A link shows on both people's cards, read from each side: a parent on one card is a child on the other. Remove a link with Remove; their gifts stay as they were.

When someone is linked as same household or spouse, their card shows Household lifetime: what they and the people linked that way have given together. Each person's own totals, status and receipts stay their own.

Links are not money, so positions that do not see money can see and change them, but not the amounts.

Email groups built on giving

In Contacts, a segment can pick supporters by their giving: Donor status, LYBUNT, SYBUNT, Given at least (lifetime), Given this year at least and Gave to fund. Use the segment as the audience of an email campaign in Outreach, and only the people who agreed to email are written to. These filters are for positions that see money.

The donor's own page

A supporter can see their own giving on their customer portal: the private link made from their card under Customer portal. With Giving on, it has a Your giving section with their 10 most recent gifts and a Giving statement for each year they gave, up to seven years, each ready to print or save. It shows only that person's own gifts. Turning the link off closes the statements too. See How to give a customer their own portal.

Engagement score

Each donor has an engagement score out of 100, on the Donors tab and on their card. It adds up what they did, not what they might be worth:

  • how recently they gave: 30 in the last 3 months, 20 in the last 12 months, 5 if earlier;
  • gifts in the last 24 months: 5 each, up to 25;
  • events they were checked in to in the last 24 months: 5 each, up to 15;
  • volunteer hours in the last 12 months: 1 for each hour, up to 20;
  • 10 if they agreed to email.

Hold the pointer over the score on their card to see each part.
