How to teach Otto about your business
Add price lists, policies and FAQs to Knowledge, start from an example for your industry, and give Otto lines to remember.
Updated 2026-10-17
Knowledge is what Otto knows about your business. When it drafts a reply to a customer or answers a question, it searches these pages for the facts, and says so when the answer is not there. Everyone can read it; only an owner or admin can change it.
Open it from Settings → Tools → Knowledge.
Start from the example for your industry
Knowledge shows an example made for a business like yours, such as a plumber, a salon or an AV installer: How Otto uses a page — an example for your kind of business. It shows a page you might keep (for example a Price list), a question A customer asks, and the reply Otto drafts, from that page.
The example is marked Example only · Otto never uses it: its prices are made up, so it is never stored as knowledge.
- Press Start my price list from this (the button names the example's page).
- Change the text to your own prices, policies or services.
- Press Save.
Press Hide example to put it away, and Show an example to see it again.
Add pages of your own
- Press Add a page.
- Give it a Title, pick the Topic, and Write or paste the text, or Upload a file.
- Press Add page.
Good pages are price lists, policies, FAQs and phone scripts: "Call-out fee $79, waived if we do the work" is exactly the kind of fact Otto quotes.
Lines to remember
Under Remembered, type one line in Something for Otto to remember, for example "We never discount in December", and press Remember. These are read on every run and every chat. Press Forget to remove one.
What Otto remembers about you personally in chat is separate and private to you: see how to control what Otto remembers about you.
If it doesn't work
- "Give it a title" / "Write the line first"
- "Only an owner or admin can change what Otto knows." — ask an owner or admin, or read the pages as they are.
