How to control what Otto remembers about you

See, add and delete the things Otto keeps about you for your chats, and switch its memory off.

Updated 2026-10-17

When you tell Otto something lasting in Otto chat, such as "remember that I like totals before tax" or "call me Sam", it keeps it and uses it in your later chats so you do not have to say it twice. These memories are yours alone: nobody else in the business sees them, and each person manages their own.

They are in Settings → Memory (under You).

See and change your memories

  1. Open Settings and choose Memory.
  2. Under What Otto remembers about you, each memory shows when it was saved and whether it came From a chat or was Added here.
  3. To add one, type it in Add a memory, for example "I like totals before tax", and press Add.
  4. To forget one, press Delete beside it. To forget everything, press Delete all and confirm, or press Keep them to change your mind.

Switch memory off

Under In your chats there are two switches:

  • Learn from my chats: keep what you say about yourself, like how you like answers. Off, Otto saves nothing new.
  • Use my past chats: read your recent chats so nothing has to be said twice.

Each switch is saved when you press it. A Temporary chat in Otto chat is never stored and never adds a memory.

Good to know

  • You can keep up to 200 memories.
  • Card and ID numbers are refused before anything is stored, whoever typed them.
  • What Otto remembers about the business, shared with your team, is a different list on the Knowledge page (in Settings → Tools).

If it doesn't work

  • "That looks like a card or ID number. Otto never stores those."
  • "Write something for Otto to remember." — the memory was empty.
