How to show an instant price when customers book
Give a bookable service a base price and a few questions, e.g. bedrooms or vehicle size. Customers answer on the booking page, see the price, and the job is priced from their answers.
Updated 2026-10-24
Price a visit by what the customer tells you, e.g. a house clean at $90 plus $20 for every bedroom after the first, or a detail priced by vehicle size. Only an owner or admin can set it up, and online booking must already be setup (see How to take bookings online).
Where
Your name at the bottom of the menu → Settings → Tools → Online booking → Open → What can be booked.
Steps
- Find the service and switch on Instant price. The Base price starts as the service's price on your price list.
- Add questions:
- + Number, e.g. "Bedrooms", Lowest 1, Highest 8. Base price covers 1 means the first bedroom is in the base price. Price per step is what each step above that adds, e.g. $20. For square feet, set Step size 500 to charge for every 500 square feet.
- + Choice, e.g. "Vehicle size". Type one answer a line: name, price and extra minutes, split with a bar, e.g. "SUV | 60 | 30".
- + Add-on, e.g. "Inside fridge" at $25. The customer ticks it or not.
- Optional: set a Minimum price. A smaller total is raised to it, and the job shows the difference as "Up to the minimum price".
- Optional: give answers Extra minutes, e.g. 30 minutes for each bedroom. The visit is booked for the longer time, so only times with room for the whole visit are offered.
- Press Save pricing. Until you change something it is grayed out, with "Saved. Change something to save again." beside it.
What happens next
- After picking the service, the customer sees Tell us about the job with your questions and the price, which updates as they answer.
- Every later step shows their answers and the price, e.g. "Bedrooms: 3; Condition: Tidy" and "Price: $130.00".
- The job is made with one line per priced answer, e.g. "Full clean", "2 × Bedrooms over the first 1 (3 in all)" and "Inside fridge", and its notes list the answers. You see the price under Booking requests.
- The customer's own booking page shows their answers and the price.
- A customer on the waitlist keeps their answers: the time they are offered is long enough for the visit they asked for.
Good to know
- Otto works the price out again from the answers when the booking is made. A price changed in the customer's browser is never used.
- A class (more than one person per time) keeps its own length: extra minutes do not apply to it.
- Switch Instant price off and the service is booked at its price-list price again. Bookings already made keep the price they were given.
If it doesn't work
- "Vehicle size" has between 2 and 12 answers to choose from. A choice needs at least two answers.
- The highest answer to "Bedrooms" is at least the lowest. Swap the two numbers.
- Base price: "12,5" is not a price. Type prices with a dot, e.g. 12.50.
- A customer sees "Answer each question to see the price." One answer was missing or outside the range you set. They answer again.
