How to change how Otto looks

Settings → Account. Appearance picks light, dark or match device for you. Dashboard style picks Modern (a short menu made for your business) or Classic for everyone in the business.

Updated 2026-10-27

There are two settings for how Otto looks. Appearance is light or dark, and it is yours alone, on this device. Dashboard style is Modern or Classic, and it is the same for everyone in the business.

Where

Settings → Account. You can also open Settings and search for "style" or "dark".

Steps

  1. To go light or dark, press Light, Dark or Match device under Appearance. It changes straight away, on this device only.
  2. To change the menu and look for everyone, press Modern or Classic under Dashboard style. "Modern style on" or "Classic style on" appears, and the change is saved.

What each style looks like

  • Modern: a short menu made for your kind of business. Each entry is named for a job, not a screen. Pages that do the same job sit under one entry, with a switcher across the top of them. For example, an agency's Marketing holds Outreach, Social & ads, Forms & QR and Affiliates. Buttons are rounded, tabs inside a page are a switcher, and the Overview is made of colored tiles: revenue, today's jobs (or bookings), drafts waiting for review, your latest email campaign, quotes, invoices, your pipeline and what Otto did this month.
  • Made for your kind of business: on Modern, each kind of business has its own color for buttons, links and the selected menu entry, and the Overview opens with a banner in that color naming your kind of business. The words follow it too: a salon or shop sees Today's bookings, and an agency sees Proposals on its Overview. To change the kind of business, go to Settings → Profile.
  • Classic: every page in one long menu grouped as Work, Growth and Operations, and the Overview as plain panels.

Both styles show the same pages and the same figures. Only the menu and the look change. A page you switch on under Settings → What you use always appears in the Modern menu: in its usual group, or under More if your kind of business doesn't usually use it.

Good to know

  • A business made from October 27, 2026 starts on Modern. A business that existed before stays on Classic until someone changes it.
  • Only an owner or a manager can change the dashboard style. Anyone can change their own appearance.
  • To move, resize or hide the Overview's tiles, press Customize on the Overview. Your arrangement is yours alone. On Modern, small tiles take a quarter of a row, medium half and large three quarters.
  • To get the usual tiles back, press Customize, then + Add widgets, then Standard set. It puts back the standard tiles for the style the business is using.
