How to import from another system
Bring customers, prices, quotes, invoices, jobs, payments and stock from your old tool's export files.
Updated 2026-10-14
Otto reads the CSV files other systems export: customers, a price list, open and paid invoices, quotes, jobs, payment history and stock items.
- Open Settings, then Tools, and open Bring over your records.
- Choose what the file holds and pick the file.
- Read the preview. It says exactly what would be made, and nothing is saved yet.
- Confirm. The whole file comes in, or none of it does.
What to expect
- A row that cannot be read is listed with its line number. It is never dropped silently or brought in as zero.
- Amounts are read with care: currency signs, thousands separators and decimal commas. An amount that could be read two ways is not guessed.
- Quotes, invoices and jobs are matched to a customer by email, then by exact name. A row that matches nobody makes that customer (the preview lists them). A row that matches two people is left unmatched rather than guessed.
- The amount in the file is taken as the whole amount: no tax is added on top.
